A Brief History
Montpelier High School was established in 1914 in the building that is now Main Street Middle School. Construction of the current high school on Bailey Avenue was completed in 1956, and the original building was converted to Main Street Middle School that same year. In 2018 Montpelier and Roxbury school districts merged under Act 46 and we became the Montpelier Roxbury School District. Making the decision to attend the Central Vermont Career Center was the best choice of my high school career. I always knew for a career I wanted to help people, but I didn’t know yet in what capacity. In the Medical Professions class, I learned a large variety of skills that will forever…
I did two CBLs while at student at Montpelier High School: I interned with WITNESS, an international human rights nonprofit, and I facilitated weekly English classes at a local dairy farm as part of the Vermont Migrant Education Program. These experiences were…
Both CBL experiences taught me valuable lessons that saved me time at the early stages of my work career. My first experience was at Cody Chevrolet shadowing an automotive technician. Growing up, I always thought…
I did a variety of CBL internships during my time at MHS and it was by far the most impactful educational experience I had as a student. I was on the fence about following my interest in boat mechanics or the ski industry. After doing a CBL at a boat repair shop…
My flexible pathway experience was profoundly meaningful and transformative, both during high school and beyond. My Community-Based Learning (CBL) experience took place at the Austine School’s satellite Deaf education program in Williston, VT, where I had…
My CBL experience allowed me to commit to a career as a professional pilot by exposing me to the industry, connecting me with current and retired pilots, and helping me find my eventual path toward where I am today as a commercial pilot.
CBL was the most meaningful educational experience of high school for me and still something I often draw on. I got to work at an environmental legal nonprofit. Today I work again at a legal nonprofit, now a full attorney…
My CBL was extremely impactful not only in my high school experience, but in my career as well. My experience with Brian Bishop at VSECU allowed me to explore subjects that were not available to me in the standard curriculum…
My CBL was very beneficial in allowing me to explore a career field I was interested in before college, and build my resume for future internships during college…
I did my CBL @ The Family Center of Washington County which taught me A TON about inclusivity of abilities, socioeconomic status and the impact you can have on a family by offering resources and quality childcare at a young age…
