Union Elementary School
Serving pre-kindergarten through 4th grade, UES is a community devoted to fostering creativity and curiosity in an environment that celebrates academic excellence, the joy of learning, and the dignity of all individuals.
The child-centered environment engages collaboratively at a high level academically, socially, and within the community. The school is deep-rooted in tradition and upholds a strong focus on outdoor education, rigorous academics, and a strong commitment to the arts.
Constructed in 1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the school is a hub of the community and a place where all Montpelier residents are encouraged to take an active part in the education of future generations.

Please email Principal Rachel Whalen if you’re interested in joining the UES Caregiver Council!
The MRPS Caregiver Councils are groups hosted by school-based and district leadership to have a direct connection to caregivers so that we can better meet the needs caregivers have. The Councils work at a systems level, meeting monthly with either the Principal and Assistant Principal (the school based Council) or with the Superintendent, Director of Curriculum and Technology, Director of Student Support Services, Communications Coordinator, and Director of Social Emotional Learning and Wellness (the district-wide Council).
Learn more about the MRPS District Caregiver Council and school based Caregiver Councils on our Caregiver Council webpage.
