Carrie Gilman - UES Pre-K - 4th Grade SEL Coach

Carrie Gilman began her education at SUNY Geneseo before getting a Masters in English and Education at University at Buffalo. She also began her teaching career in Buffalo, New York where she taught 7th grade English for four years before following her heart and ski buddy to Vermont.  For the past twenty years, Carrie taught English at Northfield Middle and High School.  She was the Coordinator for Restorative Practices as well as co-director of the K-12 Mentor Program. In 2023, Carrie joined the Rowland Foundation as a fellow; her year-long project, to prize dignity in discipline and the creating authentic opportunities to make repair when harm occurs,  took her across the country and culminated with a trip to Finland to research best practices in school. She is currently pursuing a degree in Special Education and serves on the Board of Directors for the Vermont Association for Middle Level Education (VAMLE).  Carrie lives in Moretown with her husband, son, daughter, and Australian Cattle Dog, Honey Lavender.
