STRATEGIC PLANNING:

THE FUTURE OF FACILITIES WITHIN MONTPELIER ROXBURY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

MRPS distributed a Request for Proposals and proceeded to recommend and approve the hiring of TruexCullins on October 18th, 2023. TruexCullins will facilitate a robust community engagement process and help the district assess future options and opportunities for the facilities within our school district.

MRPS WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU!

ATTEND A COMMUNITY WORKSHOP

During the community forums held by the City of Montpelier questions regarding the school district arose. Much like the City of Montpelier, Montpelier Roxbury Public Schools is committed to ensuring our facilities are as resilient to flooding as possible. We are also committed to our buildings evolving to meet the needs of our learners both today and in the future. In that spirit, MRPS has teamed up with TruexCullins and Engineering Ventures to do a study regarding what it means to have climate resilient buildings that meet the needs of our learners.

Just like the city, we need as many voices in this conversation as possible. We hosted two community workshops in November and December to gather thoughts from our community (see below).

Please stay tuned for more opportunities to engage in this process in the near future!

Community Workshop #1: Setting the Context

Happened on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. This session was split into four themes:

  1. Environmental Resilience - what are the climate threats to our buildings and how can modern engineering help facilities become more resistant to those threats?

  2. Future Trends of the District - what do enrollment predictions look like and how does this influence decisions regarding our facilities?

  3. Facilities Overview - what is the current state of each of our buildings?

  4. Evolving Needs for Educational Innovation - What does a modern school building look like?

Each theme provided time for community input and feedback that will be folded into the final report made to the school board.

Community Workshop #2: Educational Vision for Our Facilities

This workshop happened on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. This session dove deeper into creating facilities that meet the needs of the whole child. Using their whole child framework, Truex Collins engaged community members in a group brainstorm of what the future might look like for our school facilities.
