Roxbury Transition Committee

 
 

This committee was formed in March, 2024 and will inform and facilitate the transition process to move students from Roxbury Village School (RVS) to Union Elementary School (UES) starting the 2024-2025 school year. They will make any recommendation to the board regarding strategies that may need fund balance money or board decision. The committee will design and implement a process to engage the communities in both Roxbury and Montpelier. The committee will use the MRPS stated priorities as a guide and base its recommendation on the following factors: educational (including academics and safety, belonging, and wellness) considerations, financial considerations, and staffing considerations. Particular strategies that will be considered by the committee include, but not limited to, transportation, after school programming, and future use of the building.

  • 4 board members: Kristen Getler (Roxbury), Rhett Williams (Roxbury), Lyn Turcotte (Montpelier), Scott Lewins (Montpelier)

    • Co-Chairs: Kristen Getler (Roxbury), Lyn Turcotte (Montpelier)

  • Superintendent Libby Bonesteel

  • 2-3 community members from both Montpelier and Roxbury

    • Roxbury: Hannah Zajac, Hannah Bryant, Amber Wodtli

    • Montpelier: Victor Guadango, Katy Stevens-Favorite

  • 2-4 students from Roxbury and 1-2 from Montpelier

    • Roxbury: Diego Soria, Payton Donahue

    • Montpelier: Jackson Renfew-Garrard

  • Advising capacity from MRPS staff as needed:

    • Jess Murray - Director of Social Emotional Learning and Wellness

    • Nick Conner (Community Liaison)

    • Bibba Kahn, Rachel Popoli, and Katie Swick (MRPS Faculty)

Letters of interest to serve on this committee were due by March 31, 2024.
