  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL) are the skills needed to manage emotions, collaborate and connect with others, manage healthy relationships, create and achieve goals, and make responsible decisions.

Please review this slide deck to learn more about:

    • The MRPS SEL multi-tiered system of support and how these tiers work within the schools

      • Tier 1: Universal SEL Instruction & support

      • Tier 2: Targeted SEL interventions & support

      • Tier 3: Intensive SEL interventions & support

    • How SEL is tracked: universal screeners and student specific data

    • How students receive targeted (Tier 2) or intensive (Tier 3) SEL support

    • SEL and wellness resources

  • At MRPS, our goal of incorporating social emotional learning is to ensure that all students learn at high levels and feel a deep sense of belonging based on what we do everyday.

We believe that social emotional learning skills are skills to be directly and explicitly taught. Traditionally, social emotional learning skills were believed to be an inherent trait or personality characteristic. However, we view them as skills to be intentionally developed over time. Just like academic skills need to be taught and learned, so do social emotional learning skills.

Please read more about our approach to SEL here.

  • The Montpelier Roxbury School District is committed to providing all of its students with a safe and supportive school environment in which all members of the school community are treated with respect.
